I was hesitant at first about the 64bit version of Vista, but that has not been a problem at all. The 9340 also includes both analog and digital TV tuners and an FM receiver. I have not had the noisy fan problem, so perhaps that was a bad batch in production. The 9340 incorporates all of this internally now so no extra cords are snaking around my desk and I actually have a spare USB connector on the back of the computer. Video editing is a breeze on the Quad Core processor and all that memory. There appears to have been issues for some folks with the nVidia 9500GS graphics card. I purchased the m9340f from Best Buy last August. An older HP model I had used an external USB wireless antenna and external IR receiver for the remote.
As BluRay wasn't an option on HP drives last August, I may stick a BluRay drive in the spare bay one of these days. It has HP's usual set of audio in and out connectors, including SPDIF digital. That is about the only thing the 9340 doesn't have. When I bought the computer I was using a smaller DVI monitor. No program I owned and none of the games I've purchased have had any issues running on this machine. The HP has modification ability.
What I really do appreciate about this card is its HDMI and DVI output. I have since purchased a larger HDMI model and because of the 9500GS, didn't need to change out the card. Besides including a replacable graphics card (if I wanted to do that), there is a spare internal hard drive bay and a spare optical drive bay as well.
On 04/05/09, the hard drive died. There is definitely something wrong with the HP Pavilion Elite m9350f. They just make excuses for the HP corporation and its shoddy machine. Customer support personnel are not helpful. On 05/04/09, the video card died. They paid for the shipping.
The HP technician at their repair facility left the second hard drive bay unplugged. He also forgot to reconnect the USB port to its power coupling. I purchased the HP Pavilion Elite m9350f on 09/20/08. The folks at HP are not aware of the fact that they only have a job as long as someone comes along and buys their product. They are reburshised. Two major components have gone out on this computer, and it is not even nine months old. I do not recommend the purchase of the HP Pavilion Elite m9350f to anyone.
HP refused, but they are going to send a technician to my house to install a new computer card. I had to spend 87 minutes on the telephone with their Technical Support personnel before they agreed to repair the machine. I have already filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I have asked for a new computer. The replacement parts are not new. I am now filing a complaint with my state's Office of Consumer Affairs. The quality of the product is poor and the customer support is terrible.
I recommend this computer VERY highly. I have had absolutely no problems with this computer EVER. This is an AMAZING PC. I am an interactive media designer, and I need a POWERFUL computer to work on. The sheer power is just astounding. Get this: I regularly run two or three Adobe programs, iTunes, Yahoo Messenger (with the webcam)., Opera, Safari, IE, and Firefox ALL AT ONCE and it processes everything only SLIGHTLY more slowly than usual. Any computer that is fast enough to keep up with me is a gem. I am a VERY satisfied HP owner.
Google searching shows this is a very common issue and not an isolated problem. I have an HP computer with the same video card. The NVIDIA GeForce 9500GS that HP has selected has some kind of issue that makes is VERY noisy. There is even a Youtube video about the fan noise. I would be very careful before buying ANY product (not just HP) with this video card.
